Pat Allen, Ph.D., best-selling author, speaker, psychotherapist, and internationally recognized communication and relationship expert, will hold a one-day workshop at The Mountain Mermaid on Saturday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The workshop is for men and women, singles and couples and includes sessions on self-esteem training, WANT® Communication (how to ask for what you want and say “no” to what you don’t want), understanding and balancing your yin and yang energies, and dream analysis.
Allen, a certified transactional analyst, has just recently made the choice to cut back on her private therapy practice in Los Angles and Newport Beach to focus her energies and dedicate herself to doing more speaking engagements, workshops, and lectures. She wants to reach larger audiences with her “politically incorrect, but scientifically accurate” message. She presents practical insights, and easy to use tools and communication skills that can immediately improve and positively impact all relationships, straight, gay or lesbian, business and personal.
Allen has authored several books, including her longtime best-seller Getting to I Do, published by William Morrow. Other book titles include Staying Married and Loving it, Conversational Rape, and It’s a Man’s World and a Woman’s Universe. A brand new book directed at men, Getting to “I Don’t,” written with co-author Don Schmincke, is scheduled to be out very soon.
Dubbed “The Love Doctor” by Lynn Smith of the Los Angles Times, Allen is a sought-after speaker and has been featured in numerous publications, including Cosmopolitan Magazine which did a recent article titled “Inside the Mysterious Male Mind,” explaining Allen’s views on the differences between the male and female brain. Allen has been a frequent guest on television, including four appearances on Oprah, where host Oprah Winfrey said that many of her friends “won't make a move without Dr. Pat Allen’s guidance, ” and called Allen a “therapist, comic, mother superior.” Allen has appeared on CNN, Fox News, Geraldo, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, Eye on L.A., Blind Date, Advice Line with Chuck Woolery, Penn & Teller, and many major talk shows, as well as having her own regular weekly segment on the KTLA Channel 5 Morning News.
Recently she has also appeared as Pauly Shore’s therapist on the new TBS reality show Minding the Store—Starring Pauly Shore. She was also Tiffany Pollard’s therapist on VH1’s popular reality show I Love New York 2, where she worked her magic doing couple’s counseling and assisted Pollard (aka “New York”) in finding her match from the five final suitors.
The workshop costs $135 in advance ($150 on the day of the event, space permitting). A lunch will be catered by Inn of the Seventh Ray and is included in the admission price. To register online, go to www.DrPatAllen.com. Call (310) 390-4767 or e-mail AdJim@aol.com for more information.
